To add, There's a charity called Pregnancy Sickness Support that offer great advice and peer support that you can look into. A little sickness can be normal, but constant nausea and vomiting shouldn't be tolerated as "just morning sickness" as many try and fob it off as.
@Elly thank you! I have been considering going to GP but I’m one of those people who always feel like I’m bothering with something so unimportant but it’s affecting me so much! I’ll give the GP a call. I’ve tried a few things people have suggested but it’s not helping. I don’t eat I feel sick, I eat and feel even more sick!
You're definitely not bothering anyone. Morning sickness and nausea that is disruptive to your daily life in anyway is enough to seek help. Hopefully you can get under control with the medication but when it comes to getting food and water down you, do it in whatever way you can. I lived off chip shop chips for weeks because it was the only thing I could even stomach a tiny portion of. Wasn't at all healthy, but at least it was something! I ended up losing over a stone in 2.5 weeks from trying to "eat healthy for the baby" and then just throwing it all up 🥹😅
@Elly funny you say that as I had a bag of chippy chips last night 🙈 or all I’m stomaching is Greggs sausage rolls as they are so bland/ beige foods haha. I’ve tried forcing healthier options but have visited the toilet quickly to throw it up too. I’m hoping it will pass soon so I can get back to a more balanced diet xx
Food is good when you can't keep anything down!! It's miserable being sick so much. Do look into Pregnancy Sickness Support etc. I found HG to be quite a lonely experience because of people thinking sickness is just part and parcel of pregnancy and not quite understanding how debilitating it was 🥲 I really hope you get some medication that helps!
Hi lovely. I had HG with my second pregnancy (currently 37 weeks) that lasted until about 25 weeks, albeit improving slowly from 15. Didn't have it with my first. Just the "normal" morning sickness you'd expect. Please go to the GP and start on anti sickness meds. They will start you with cyclizine but honestly I haven't seen many people say it worked well, so if after a few days you're still struggling, go back and work through the different medication options. Have a look into xonvea, some GPs don't know to prescribe it but in the HG community it is really successful at helping women struggling with sickness. If you get signs of dehydration, please get the GP to do a urine test or even call the early pregnancy unit as you may require IV fluids depending on how sick you are being.
