Solids question

When introducing solids, how often should baby have them & when? Before/after milk, and at what time of the day is best? Just once? Multiple times? Do I build it up gradually or just give him a little each day? I’m not trying to wean as I am BF and he’s still WAY too young. I am simply introducing it. *Not looking for advice or opinions about when babies should start solids* Thankyou

I found this book soo helpful with my first and will be using it for my second too - how to wean your baby by Charlotte Stirling - Reed. Milk always first and will be their main food until they hit 12M, especially in the beginning but you can give a gap so they are hungry for their food. They really don’t eat much at the start. You start with one meal a day and then lead up to 3 over months. Up to you what meal to start with but I did lunch as it gave me enough time to sort things out and then also enough time to see if any negative reactions to the food

@Jess smart thinking regarding reactions. Thankyou!

When I started my little one I just gave her a little bit of what I was eating , started with just a little bit at lunch then built that up to bigger portions or a second meal whej she finished what i gave her or as she went off milk but i always gave milk afterwards xx

When I started we did milk then solids. As he got older 8/9 months we moved to solids then milk. It was just what was better for him and yes he still has the full bottle. I started one 'meal' a day a few spoons at first then became more. I chose lunch time. I then added breakfast after milk. Then added the evening meal around 8 months. At first it was about 30/40 minutes after milk as it was only a spoon or two. Then it went to about an hour when he was having more.
