3 month old been in hospital since birth

Due to 10 back to back viral infections and aspirating milk into his lungs (which is being managed by NG feeding) my sons been in hospital back to back since birth. He is finally clear of all infections, but still sucking in the ribs. Doctors said it will take time for the breathing to stabilise as his lungs heal. He will be NG fed until his swallow and severe reflux calms down. Anyone with personal experiences of their babies being sick in the first year? It’s so hard when you’re seeing other mums enjoying motherhood while you’re stuck behind hospital walls. I have a toddler who I only see half of the time. Personal experiences would really be appreciated to help during this difficult time.

Aww I had a premature baby at 24wks and although our stories are different, I do relate to the hospital surroundings! I know its easier said than done but please make time for you and your eldest 🩷 I know with your son being in hospital you feel guilty if your not there for both kids! Although at the time my eldest was 14 , he still needed his mama ! Are you allowed to bring your daughter to the unit? I know some hospital polices have changed since covid. His lungs will be fragile for a little while, My son had chronic lung disease when born and I do recall the ribs fighting for each breath, you have to remember he's in the best hands and has care with hik 24.7! It's OK to have a couple days off for yourself and to be with your eldest? Perhaps Dad can be by his side - If not already a little more? I hope some of this helps 🩷
