For a twist on the usual "it takes days", I was induced with pessary at 37 weeks, and my cervix was far back / I was not ready in the slightest... Within 6 hours I was fully dilated and put to sleep for an emergency forceps delivery 🤣 not the perfect story but thought I'd share since it wasn't a C-section!!! Stay positive, I'm sure it will be all good and you will have your little baby soon!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@Charlotte oh bless you… what happened for you after the pessary didn’t work? x
@Flow Oh wow at least it dilated you haha! How come you had to have a forceps delivery in the end and how come you were put to sleep? I’ve never actually heard of anyone having one before so just kind of assumed you where awake for them haha x
Inductions kept being paused in my hospital, hence why it took so long😅 so there was a day break and then I had 2 gels, then the next day I had a 3rd gel followed by the balloon which finally got me to a point where I could have my waters broken. I waited 3 days for that and then got put on the drip, I think my body wasn't ready for induction tbh so it just didn't go well at all. But like I say, I know lots of people who have had good inductions too 🩷
@Eden honestly I think I had every single induction method my hospital offered so if you have any questions feel free to message me🩷 My experience wasn't the best but everyone is different!!
@Eden well it happened SO quickly that all I'd had pain relief wise was paracetamol... So when they checked me and his head was there, I had to start pushing ASAP but his heart rate dropped and they said he needed to be out in the next 5 minutes.. he was a bit stuck so they cut an episiotomy and it was so so painful they had to put me to sleep just after that as we'd run out of time for an epidural / spinal / basically anything. It's quite unusual for forceps under anaesthetic (obviously quite dangerous when the mum isn't pushing....) but he really was in quite the rush!!!
He was on a vent machine for a few minutes after the delivery but came round quite quickly.. when I came round and woke up there was just a baby on my boyfriends chest 🤣🤣 and I was like "this is mine?" Lol
My cervix was far back and not at all ready for a baby They tried the balloon but it was pointless - took 3attempts by 2midwives to get it in. And the next day when i woke up it had fell out I was told it hadn't worked so it must not have been in properly. They tried pessaries next - it took 3 before they could break I'm waters. They try up to 4pessaries before they do a csection - at least that's what I was told, and it's very rare for it to not work. Progressed slowly - had to have the hormone drip. Broke waters at 1am - delivered baby (forceps delivery) at 23:30
Hi lovely, I had the pessary as my first method of induction. It didn't work for me, but I know quite a few people who have had really good results with the pessary so don't be too disheartened! Personally, I didn't find it painful, but I had no progress at all with it, so that might be why. It was a bit uncomfortable and awkward but okay. Good luck with the induction, try and stay positive 🩷
