Confused

Why is everyone talking about clary sage, dates, raspberry leaf tea and other things? What are they meant to do? What happens if you don’t do these things?

To help ease labour and get things moving, the tea is more just to help strengthen things to make it easier but I believe the other two are to get things moving. There’s no 100% that they’re going to help and you don’t need to do these if you don’t want to. Just helps some people x

They help to ripen the cervix apparently. Not sure if they actually work... But it's always worth a try!

Some help soften the cervix & some help dilation. Some things help position baby and some things help produce oxytocin. This is a good read: https://www.peanut-app.io/share/OIjlGihZ1Jb No proof that they actually all work and you don’t need to do any of them at all it’s just thought to help the labour process

I think dates are the only one that have actual research to back up the claim that they soften the cervix, albeit a small study. Raspberry leaf has no negatives so it's kind of...why not try. It's meant to shorten your active stage of labour. I drank it religiously with my first and my active labour was 40 minutes and my body basically did its thing, I didn't push 😂can't attribute to the tea, but it's something in my control in these final weeks that has no harm and *could* be beneficial, so I see no downside except the cost of the tea and the taste of dates 😂

Don’t stress over these! None are needed, as other ladies have said, won’t hurt you or your baby if you try them, if that’s your mentality. I did none with my first and same this time round x
