@Sophie i’m not sure who the council passed my details to as i havent been given any info on this. Just asked if im happy for them to do so. I’m wondering if i should have gotten some information on the matter?
See if there's a local advise centre or a citizens advise member who may know. I live 2 doors down from a lady who works for them and she helped a little. I assume someone near you would have more insight x
@Sophie ive just phoned the council to get some info and no one knew what I was on about. HA websites states you would have to be referred by council for them to have you on their list so i know the lady i originally spoke to wasn’t chatting rubbish but theres no notes on my account and the lady no longer works there so not sure what else i can do as no one has a clue and i dont know which HA she had put me down for so can’t contact them directly either
i was randomly contacted out of the blue in November via email by housing association saying i am being considered for one of their properties and given all the necessary forms to fill out. I didn’t even know that the council had nominated me.
@ellie this is helpful! The forms you had to fill what did it entail? And did they show you photos of the property or any info ? Also are you originally from croydon, or did they place you here for temp? And was the property you’re being considered for in your borough or elsewhere?
there was a lot of forms I had to fill out including the application, medical form and they also wanted me to send bank statements and also had to fill out an income and expenditure form. I didn’t see pictures but was told the address. thankfully the property I was nominated for was a new build so I was able to access pictures online of their show property. I am in Croydon care leaver. currently in temp accommodation but due to be moving to the new property next month. the property is also in Croydon borough. I honestly have no idea why I was nominated lol, when bidding the closest I have got is #93 so it was very random.
@ellie those are the exact questions that the council lady asked me when she was filling out the form to refer me but haven’t received anything yet so ive emailed the council because I’m confused on whether I’m supposed to do anything or not. I’m currently in Croydon temp but originally from another borough. I got moved down here as they didnt have any properties in my borough. I’m willing to move to other areas within reason but i would of liked to be able to see properties and the areas first. On bidding i’m still in the 500-800’s soo longgggg way to go Congratulations on your nnew property 🙏 may it bring you lots of amazing new memories
Not fully sure how it may work for you in London. I've lived in England and been on the HA they would release a list of properties each week tell you your criteria band and then let you bid on properties within that criteria. The higher up on the list you are the closest to being the first bidder you are. I'm currently in Wales and how this HA works is I've applied. I've been classed as band 2 as my home is no longer suitable for my sons needs I've provided a wide area I'd go to and now I wait. They will offer a property when they find one if I reject for reasons they disagree with they will give me 1 more offer for another property. If I reject that I have to restart the process. I imagine London will be somewhere in the middle of those kind of plans. I hope they get back to you soon.
