Breastmilk to formula

Hey, how do I safely introduce formula to a ebf 7 months baby. I do not want my baby to get tummy pains since it’ll be a whole different consistency. Thank you in advance! ❤️

commenting to follow. my munchkins almost 8 months and ebf and im dying to wean her off 😭

I mixed it for the first week and then the second week I did every other bottle was formula and by the time I was ready he already was use to the formula so he was fine

You can start by gradually introducing formula with breastmilk in bottles. So depending on how many ounces your baby drinks. You’ll start with half an ounce for a couple days and move up to an ounce and so on until the bottles are more formula than breastmilk. It can take their bodies up to two weeks to get used to a formula. There will be a little bit of tummy ache and possibly stool changes in the beginning. My older 2 couldn’t have dairy so we did Nutramigen formula. We did gas drops when my older 2 got tummy pains.

@Finnie yes! And she’s so cute and chubby good luck mama! ❤️

@Latoya Aziza @Christina thank you so much for the advice I will mix and gradually introduce. 🥹❤️

Pump breastmilk into bottle and mix in formula gradually

I recommend breastmilk because it’s free and it’s coming from my body and it’s healthy for my baby and I don’t have money for formula and I’m not approved for wic

@🌻CJMuvaMayMay✨ your comment wasn't necessary at all. it's "free" because it comes from your body doesn't mean anything. You have to buy a bunch of things to keep you well fed and hydrated. Not to mention the mental and physical toll it takes on your body. Some people don't produce enough, some people have to switch the formula due to allergies. Just because it works for you and your baby doesn't mean it works for everybody. Just because YOU can't afford formula doesn't mean she can't. Breast is best is completely outdated. Fed is best!! My oldest would probably be dead If I didn't switch her to formula. She was failure to thrive. My milk was not making what she needed. She is still very tiny at 4 years old she only weighs 28/29lbs and 33in tall. I still have to give her toddler formula, PediaSure, milk with extra calcium. She has a weak immune system, every time she gets up to 30lbs she gets sick and losses the weight again. Once again what works for you DOES NOT work for everyone.

Hey love Im actually in the same position my baby was ebf for 7 months and 3 days ago we switched her to by heart formula it’s the closest to breastmilk and we’ve had no problems 🩷

You also don’t have to worry about mixing breastmilk because the formula is thin

@Miyasia I’ve been thinking to get ByHeart! Does it taste similarly to breastmilk too? My baby drinks breastmilk or Similac only (because I had low supply at first so we use Similac from the hospital at first before my supply got caught up) so I’m curious how that transition will go

I’m really sorry, hun. I completely missed the last part of your message. All I saw was “breast milk to formula.” I apologize for that. As you mentioned, everyone does what works best for them, and I don’t want to keep going back and forth on this. There's no need for that.

@Winnie yess it’s almost the exact same my baby didn’t even realize the difference plus most similac cans have only 14-20oz by heart has 24oz so you get more

@Miyasia that’s great!! Thank you!

@Winnie no problem love i hope everything works out for you and baby 🩷🩷
