Low lying placenta/placenta previa

I was told today my placenta is 5mm away from my cervix and they said they would just check again at 36 weeks - I honestly thought they would want to know earlier than this because if it doesn’t improve I’ll need a C section😭. Anyone else in the same boat? Just curious to hear what others have been told

I don’t this time but in my last pregnancy I was in the same boat, pretty sure my follow up scan was more like 32 weeks rather than 36 though. Can’t remember how many mm it was away though , it was possibly less than 5. You could always ask for it a bit earlier?

I have the same. Scan at 32 weeks.

I was told I had a low lying placenta and have been booked in for a scan at 32 weeks to check if it has moved up. Possibly different areas scan at different times?

I also had a 32 weeks scan, where the abdominal scan still showed it to be low lying but they did a transvaginal scan and confirmed that actually it was high.

Eeekkk this is making me a bit nervous as they are insisting 36 weeks is fine after checking with my friend who is a midwife within the same area. I am based in Oxford if anyone else is the same 😬

I found out I have complete placenta previa at a 16 week scan. (I’m under pre-term clinic so having fortnightly scans). However I think standard protocol is scan again at 32 weeks, and then again at 36 weeks xxx

I’m booked back in for 34 weeks to check mine x

I think 36 weeks is normal, my friend had it and it moved out the way, if not they book elective c sections in at 36 weeks ready for 39 week delivery 🙂 totally get it’s not the birth you imagined but it will be safest for baba that’s what I reminded myself after my emergency section x

I had this with my first pregnancy, most of the time it will move as pregnancy progresses
