For people who don’t have a “village” in Chelmsford, what are your options?

I'm still on maternity leave so haven't done much yet where babysitting needed but so far it's been either my husband or my parents have come and stayed over and babysat. I'll probably continue that for a long time as I don't feel comfortable with anyone else looking after her right now. When she's older and easier to look after, I'll probably begin to trust some local close friends. Idk about a babysitter, I think only if I'm desperate but my parents are 1.5h away so it's not too bad for them to just come tbh. My parents used a couple when I was young though I don't think nurseries are typically open on weekends but there's probably some kind of weekend specific daycare maybe? Not sure

I'm the same as @Chloe with my son. Although am looking into someone from nursery looking after him one evening over a weekend. Some childminder's offer this too. I'm keen for it to be someone my little knows.

I haven’t used them yet but Baby Poppins offer childcare/babysitting x

@Anna how did you initiate that with the nursery? Did you ask your child’s key worker in private?

Yes, I asked a couple of other Mums. Then asked his key worker who has offered to babysit on occasion
