Hope all goes well for you! You've got this mama 💪
Hi I wouldn’t class my first birth as traumatic but I did have a postpartum haemorrhage and transfusion after birth. Which was pretty scary when I thought about it after. I mentioned it to the doctor a few weeks ago and they said there are measures they can put in place to try and prevent the haemorrhaging this time. I am going to mention it when I go into labour to try and ensure this the case.
I had this also minus the transfusions and I got to say they were so on the ball with baby 3, they monitored my blood loss closely and I didn’t even tear this time! And she was 8lb 5!!
Just to follow up. I had my little girl on Sunday. I raised my concerns with the midwives and they were so on the ball. Went from a 1.5l blood loss, transfusions & 2nd degree tear with my first to and 800ml overall with my second not even a graze. They made sure everything was set up ahead of time and as soon as I raised concerns after birth I was given an injection and an IV drip. Kept me in the delivery room on the bed with the IV for 4 hours. Where I got a decent sleep and once ready helped me into the shower. My midwife was amazing. I remember my shower not long after my first and being shocked because it was like a massacre and could barely stand. This time round there was hardly any extra blood while showering etc. If anything the whole experience made me think my after care last time was pretty poor.
Sorry to hear this! Was it vaginal or c section? I had a c section with my 1st born and I also hemorrhaged and had blood transfusion and then on top of that during the hospital recovery I developed bells palsy which is facial paralysis which lasted months because my body was so tired.. I also had hematoma and had to be rushed back to theatre....... I gave birth to my 2nd baby via an emergency c section last week and I was super anxious! Although I'm still in hospital because my BP is still super high, I have not had any issues with bleeding so far 🤞 and hopefully healing quite nicely. I would just say that as soon as you get to the hospital on the day, just tell your midwife or surgeon what happened last time so they are informed and super aware.. during my c section last week, I heard my surgeon talking to his colleagues to say make sure they double check everything before the closed my cut as I had issues last time.. so that was a positive thing for me as I've told them eveytime just before!
