Baby food pouches - half and heat?

Just after some advice! We are using baby food pouches for when we are having dinners which are too high in salt for our LO with no way to substitute (for example tonight's dinner revolves heavily around soy sauce!) However my 7MO isn't finishing food pouches yet and it feels like a waste every time, has anyone warmed up just half the pouch instead? The instructions on the pack just say warm water so I don't want to be unsafe but I hate wasting half the pouch every time! TIA!

Just pit half into babies food bowl and warm that bowl up by letting it float in boiling water x

We just would open it, squeeze into a bowl and microwave for 20 seconds (stir and let sit for a bit). The rest was put in the fridge

Yeah they make them too big ! It’s frustrating wasting the rest of the pouch.

My lo never ate a whole one, I just put some in a bowl and warm that and the rest in the fridge.

I used to use half and put the rest in the fridge. Then use the rest next day. It can stay in the fridge for 24hours. I put boiled water in a big bowl and put the plate of food inside the water to get warmed up as I don’t like to microwave her food just yet

Why are people so anal about following instructions to the T? Just put half of it in a bowl and heat in microwave, then give it a hood stir to avoid hot spots! None of this heating in hot water shite lol

@Rebecca you can make ur own comment without calling others method of wanting of baby’s food shit Unno?

@Rebecca no need to make other people feel bad about the way they warm the food, each to their own microwave or hot water which ever the carer feels comfortable doing

I put it in containers and warm for 10 secs because it’s coming from the fridge

lol Rebecca always getting into it with someone 😭

With the first half of the pouch I generally don’t warm because it’s been in cupboard and room temp (and then easier if you’re out they aren’t expecting it warm!) then the second half will go in the fridge which I tend to just get out about an hour before and stick in a bowl of hot water just to take the chill off :) Each to their own though!

I suggest not giving food pouches. They discourage eating fresh foods and eating with utensils. They should only be given as a snack on the go and not during meal times. This suggestion is coming from experience…

Aldi do smaller pouches if that is of any use

@Rebecca Dang you don’t need to be so rude🥲 If you’ve got nothing nice to say just don’t say anything at all and move on. She’s obviously just looking for advice and it’s better being safe than sorry.

Thanks for the advice everyone! ♥️😊

@Rebecca not being anal, just curious and wouldn't want to not follow the instructions and then find out there's a genuine food safety/baby safety reason much to my detriment or my sons 😊 As Rebecca above said its always better to be safe than sorry!

@Amy it's not because of any harm caused by microwave heating, it's because they have to account for people not having common sense. Heating food via the microwave can cause hotshots, that's why they don't advise it, but it's perfectly fine if u give it a good stir. I always heat my babys food and milk in the microwave, and she's my 3rd baby!

@Rebecca that’s why u should always check the food before giving it to the baby

I saved a baby food jar and half went in there popped in the fridge to use later/the next day so I could pop that straight into a bowl of boiling water

If you are worried about throwing away pouches/wasting money then batch cook and freeze portions for the days your LO can’t eat what you eat. We did pouched sometimes on the go - but only the veggie ones - what meat and fish even if “organic” can be kept in a cupboard for months on end 🤢🤢 Super easy to batch cook and so satisfying!
