Home birth preparations

Hi! Due in March and planning on having a home birth. I'm getting overwhelmed at what I need to get/prep. Does anyone have a genuinely realistic and helpful list they can share?

I had large plastic sheets, lots of towels, a step stool thing to help me in and out of the pool, that was all I really needed. I then had lights and candles, wax melts, a birthing comb, and a snack/drinks basket as extras. Enjoy, it's the most beautiful experience!

We had our incredible home birth in October. I packed a normal hospital labour bag, so that we had all we needed in reach of midwives. We then had the pool (which we rented), puppy training pads, a fabric shower curtain (for the sofa), lots of old towels, sick bowls (luckily didn’t need them), yoga ball, tens machine, big fluffy dressing gown (for after birth), favourite playlist, fairy lights, lots of lucozade isotonic sport drinks. Hope that helps a bit. Good luck, it’s incredible xx

@Jessica it's actually recommended to use incontinence pads for human use as the puppy pads contain harmful chemicals in them not suitable for human use

I also had a 'go bag'. Of everything we might need incase we had to transfer into hospital (my birth was a high risk out of guidelines home birth so they had terrified me into thinking this was going to happen ... It didn't!). I just had it upstairs on the landing and had written this in he birth plan so midwife could grab it or remind my fiance to if needed

I had a successful amazing homebirth sept 28th 2023 … have your “ Rebozo” to manage the surges & also pls pls pls go get adjusted by a Webster certified chiropractor… this will make your labor SHORTER! Do not skip this step! It aligns your pelvis so baby can come out easier

I got two waterproof pet blankets vfrom Amazon in stead of using drop sheet

Talk to your midwife. They should have a list of what they want you to have.
