Usually by having wrap around care
We use a private day nursery cos the hours wouldn't work for us at a preschool.
As others have said, private nursery is the only option, mine is open 7:30am-6pm
Private nursery that's open 7:30am - 6pm (struggled to find one open before 8am). Once he is at school we will have to pay for wrap around care, it's simply impossible otherwise :(
By using either a baby sitter or a childminder that will pick them up from nursery
Her Dad will drop her at nursery, or school when she starts there, at 9am (he starts work at midday) then we'll pay the extra for afterschool hours until about 5.30pm when I can collect her.
I changed my full time hours to 30 hours and work 9.30 to 2.30 3 days a week then the other 2 full days I arranged for childcare to come to my house for those full days
Have to go to a private preschool/ nursery with wraparound care. Our nursery is open 7:30-6. I’m a teacher but I still don’t leave work until 4 at the earliest and I’m in for 8 x
8am till 4.30pm, they offer a lot of options, there is even until 6.30pm
I drop off for breakfast club at 8.15 then go to work for 8.30 (thankfully my work is a 2 minute walk from the school) and then either my parents or in-laws pick her up at 3 until either I get home at 5.10 or my husband finishes work as sometimes he finishes by about 4pm
Private nursery 7:30-5:30 for as long as possible. When he starts at school god knows but will have to be in after school care and go to breakfast club and maybe one day each my husband and I will have to be sneaky when wfh. School does not consider 2 x working parents
We use a private nursery but those are getting harder to find that open before 8 For school we are hoping that we get into the one with wrap around care otherwise we are screwed as we have noone nearby
@Kath same! Our family all live 2hrs away! If my work can’t be flexible I’m going to have to resign!! Ridiculous! I’ve got 2 degrees, a career and earn over £100k. I’ve worked hard, this is my identity. We could look to get a nanny but in London these are about £50k!!! Unless you get a live in au pair 🤦🏻♀️ but we only have a 3 bed so no room. It’s tricky. This country is so behind others and do not make is easy for people to work! Or give an incentive for those to do so!!
I feel very privileged that my work day starts at 6.45 and I finish by 2.45 at the latest. My partner is a chef so does the drop off as the earliest he starts is 10. It means a lot of the time we are parenting by ourselves. But it works. I also am locked into this job as I would never get hours like this anywhere else. Also been here for nearly 10 years so I have done my time doing all the variety of shift before having my son x

My daughter won't be doing pre-school. She will stay in nursery where it's 7am to 6pm hours. Her dad drops her off at 8am and I collect at 5pm. We don't have family support and we need to work so it's our only option
Our nursery is 9-3, i work 7-3, dad works 9:30/10-5:30/6 to cover drop off and pick up. We both put on flexible working requests when little one was born to cover the change
For me, pre school wasn’t an option on my working days. I sent my boy to a nursery when I needed full day childcare. I know some pre schools charge extra for later finish but that’s dependant on the pre school - like an after school club. For the record though, this is the same issue as parents have when their kids go to normal school so…
