Feel like a failure

In my 4th month of weaning my daughter, I started this journey when she was 6 months, she’s now 10 months. It’s been a really enjoyable experience so far she’s doing really well with different textures, colours, taste! She gets so happy about trying different foods, makes me happy seeing how much of a foodie she is! Tonight I’m feeling heartbroken, I was looking forward to tonight’s meal for all of us, it was salmon, mash potatoes and peas…I cooled the food down like I always do and gave it to my baby, within seconds she was screaming, I noticed she had hold of some of the salmon and I put two and two together! I ran her hands under cold water for 15 mins, gave her calpol and she took a bottle, and settled really well-she was smiling and interacting well! I phoned 111 for just some reassurance and further support everything is absolutely fine. Her little fingers are a little bit red I just feel horrific about it! I feel like the worst person ever!

When my brother was a child, he and my mum were crossing each other on the stairs one day. My mum was holding a boiling hot cup of tea, and my brother accidentally tripped and was about to fall face forward from the stairs. My mum instinctively grabbed him to prevent the fall and dropped the tea on his naked skinned shoulder. The burn was horrible, and he carries that big scar to this day and forever will. You're not a failure! Mothers try hard to do what's best. They try to control everything, do everything well for the family, they do their best in every situation. But they're also humans. And sometimes, things don't go as planned. Don't beat yourself up. You're doing great!! ❤️

You’re a good mom and accidents do happen. Plus you made sure she felt good and safe afterwards. You are NOT a failure!

@Sara @Chioma thank you so much for your kind words. And thank you @Sara for sharing that story with me! Accidents happen it’s so hard to not beat yourself up though! Thank you girls 🤍🤍
