Solids

How are y’all babies doing on solids? My baby doesn’t like anything but orangers, strawberries and chicken. Other than that she won’t eat anything else 😫 she will be 1 in March and that’s when she should be transitioning to regular milk and 3 meals a day right? Idk how that’s going to work she lives off formula and its so hard to feed her food

My son doesn’t eat but 2 bites of anything & then completely refuses it 🥲 I’m not sure what to do cuz he doesn’t like to eat fr

I just offer my baby whatever I am eating. Some days he likes it and some times he doesn’t. I just keep trying the same things. He will also be 1 in March. I am not giving him regular milk, just water. (not sure if this is good advice, just what I am doing)

I just constantly offer new and different stuff. I put 2-3 foods on her tray 2-3x a day, and I give her bites of what I'm eating or cooking with. Experiment with textures, drinks, finger foods, fork/knife, temperatures, mesh teethers, baked stuff. Eventually you'll run into something they like

@Lauryn same ugh and anything I put on her tray she grabs and throws on the floor and then cries for more food to throw 😫

@Addison after 1 you will stop breastmilk/formula and just give water and food? Maybe it’s a good idea so they will actually eat??? Ugh idk

Literally same haha opens his mouth for everything I’m eating but then spits it out immediately 🫠

My son always spits out his first bite. Doesn’t matter if it’s his favorite or not. He doesn’t trust that first bite. Also I tried rice and chicken last night. It was a flop. I’ll try it again tonight. 😁

@Lauryn gotta find a way! It literally stressed me out when I see all these videos online of babies this age eating eggs, waffles, pasta, avocado toasts, crackers and I’m like howwwwww??? And 3x a day like what??😫

@Megan LOL doesn’t trust that first bite haha so cute. But yea we just gotta try and try and try again I guess

SAMEEEEE, them kids be shoveling handfuls of food down !!! & I’m like bro how????? Just gotta keep trying i guess 🥲

Exactly! I don’t want him to get full on milk. But everyone’s kid is different. I offer food every few hours, basically whenever I get a snack or eat a meal. I really don’t have great advice other than to please not stress about it. Being a mom is so stressful already :)

My son doesn’t like much food either. He still won’t even eat one full meal

My girl eats EVERYTHING 🫣

@Neish Ok jealous!!!! Lol how thoooo????????

Wow I’m so glad I’m not the only one going through the same thing. I have boy/girl twins. My son is picky and doesn’t want to feed himself. My daughter eats anything and is super independent. Sometimes she’ll feed her brother 😂. But we’re getting there…

Keep offering! Try it in different forms too, and don’t be afraid of seasoning the meats. It takes at least 15 exposures for a true preference or dislike to be made. Even if she eats just a few bites of a different fruit or a new veggie- that’s awesome! I just started today with milk. I gave my son half a sippy cup with lunch and he drank it over the course of an hour! Think of meals as snacks too, so aim for small meals 3 x a day plus two snacks between meals. Also, around 1 little ones can have a slight decrease in appetite so don’t be alarmed if that happens. Just keep offering small meals, tiny amounts on her plate or tray at a time. (Babies can get overwhelmed with large portions). And you can offer milk with meals, so they learn it’s a part of a meal- as it’s not a replacement like breastmilk would be. It’s a beverage

Sorry^^that was long af

My son eats everything and sometimes he eats more then the 1 year old i babysit. I got extremely lucky because he isnt picky. If they are under 1 keep offering the foods they dont like cooked in different ways. They could not like the texture but like the flavor. Also be careful with citrus, some babies get a bad diaper rash, my son included

My boy eats everything I put out for him, including books 😅. We mainly do baby led weaning. Started with mashed soft foods mixed with breastmilk (avocado, banana, baked sweet potato). I would load the spoon and let him grab it from me and never put food/utensils into his mouth for him. Frozen fruits in those silicone feeders was a big hit and helped with teething. Started with frozen breastmilk in it, then started mixing with frozen fruits, then went to fruit only. Now I blend fruits with spinach, kale, and water to drink from a sippy cup. First solids were avocado and banana cut into pieces the size and shape of an adult finger. He is vegan at the moment with zero processed foods. I found a free list online of 100+ first foods and how to prepare them. We are almost at 30 foods. Now hes eating 3+ times a day for solids when I eat. He will drop food on floor, I just keep it super clean and put the food right back on his tray. I plan to continue breastfeeding till 2 years old.

@Jenny lol!! Yea I heard that baby girls are more independent than baby boys lol so cute she does that tho!

@Sarah good to know!! Idk why I thought they shouldn’t have any salt or seasoning (of course not too much) but I used to cook her meat separately unseasoned maybe that’s why she doesn’t like it lmao. Did he do well with regular milk right away?

@Victoria yea maybe that will work, same food but cooked differently! TY!

@Nicole ohh the list is a good idea I just googled it too thank you!!
