Not eating

My little boy refuses to eat any solids and gets really upset / throws food on the floor/ spits it all out when given food. He also refuses formula and will only take a breastfeed. We’re offering food three times a day plus snacks but he refuses all of it. He’s dropped from the 25th to the 2nd percentile and the health visitor has said I’ve just got to refuse the breast, however when I’ve tried this he still refuses everything and it’s making me really nervous. Is anyone else experiencing similar? He also doesn’t eat much at nursery and will rarely take more than an ounce of milk. He has been ill with nursery bugs for the last few weeks but I’m so stressed about this.

This sounds very stressful, but well done for persevering! It can be draining and confusing. Maybe try feeding while holding him or making it seem like he’s having some of your food, try different environment too. If it’s not that it could be a phase!? Hope it gets better soon

That’s very strange advice from your health worker considering he’s lost weight, I’d seek a second opinion from your gp. I agree with trying to feed him in a different environment and feeding him what you’re having. My son will spit food out if he’s not in the mood so maybe you just need to follow his hunger cues rather than schedule meals

My little guy refuses food when he’s poorly. Perhaps try calpol and then food 30 mins later? Maybe he has a sore throat? Definitely one to check with the GP

My LB is the same, he's on the 2nd to last centile too. He's also had a sickness bug and now got a cold. It's hard work, I am trying not to stress but it is hard. Xx

Yes in the exact SAME situation as you! Since he’s stared nursery a month ago he’s eaten 2hot dinners in that time… I spoke to nursery and a woman that drops her baby off and she said she’s in the same situation for 3weeks now.. x
