Kids can choke while sitting too. My son likes to be doing things while eating. Like drawing or playing. I end serving food like a snack so it's easy for him to eat while also doing things. It's a win win. He eats and independently so I can eat too.
Yes but it's more likely to happen while running around so mine have always sat to eat. My 20m old will go and sit in her chair herself at meal times as its our norm. She also self feeds and I get to enjoy my meal too
If my daughter seems too wiggly to sit and eat we’re actually put her toddler tower at the table! That way she can climb up it eat some food and if she feels the need to run a little she can get down run around and come back for more food when she’s ready! We don’t have to do it every time but it’s helped us out a few times when she’s full of extra energy!
Interesting idea toddler tower thanks and games n activities at the table
@Sammi of course!! We do a lot of baking and cooking with our toddler tower too because my daughter loves to help me!
@Heather, it seems like this post isn't for you, and we all are wondering why you responded 🤔 Yes, both of my kids went through this phase, especially when I introduced food on a stick. Not only did they love it, but developmentally realized they could do two things at once. At this stage, as long as they eat, it's all good. Personally, I wasn't concerned with etiquette until 2.5 years old.
Nope. Mine have always sat to eat, eating while running around is a choking hazard
