When you first start do 1 item of food per day so no pouches that have multiple things in it because you want to be making sure they have no allergies, they recommend that u try the same food for 3 days in a row to definitely eliminate allergens for that food because not all allergic reactions present immediately with rashes, vomiting, and swelling in mouth and throat as u would expect. It's not that common for allergic reactions to occur but just informing u because it's safer to no sorry not trying to scare you. I recent discovered an app that like AI which is specifically tailored for babies and children so you can ask it whatever u want and it gives u pretty clear answers to ur questions. That's how I learnt about weaning as the Internet can be overwhelming it's called heal baby care. I hope this all made sense and helped xx
@Willow oh my goodness thank you so much!! So basically I can give her anything but in small amounts and I have to be super careful with allergies!!
@Charli pretty much there are some food that recommend when they r a bit older as the digestive system might not be able to digest everything right now but if ur ever unsure if they can eat it yet just Google x
Be careful if you're doing baby-led weaning. You need to prepare foods a certain way to make sure they aren't a choking risk. Solid starts is a great app for that and the library part will tell you how to prepare the foods in a safe way. Some parts of the app are paid, but the library is free. With purees, as Willow said, you should start with one ingredient of liquidised food. You can buy them in pouches or jars or make them at home. Then gradually you add more flavours and make the purees a bit more textured too. So at some point start mashing instead of blending for example. You can look up on online symptoms of an allergic reaction and what to do if a baby is choking. You should never need to use either, but you never know.
Baby led weaning is giving them physical food with different textures and stuff like giving them an actual blueberry or strawberries and stuff. Pouches and baby food is all purees and blended food which is all the same texture, liquidised. When you first start weaning them and for the first month or to it's more them exploring food and it's more of a sensory activity rather then actually consuming the food. You start off by offering 1-2 teaspoons of pouches or like 1 strawberry for example, very small portions just so they can get use to it. You don't actually drop milk or introduce meals that replace bottles until around 9 months maybe more, milk is still there main source of nutrients. If ur baby is a big eater then maybe baby led weaning might be better because that way ur baby has more control over what they eat and how much but u can do a mixture of both or just pouches it's really up to you xx
