ADHD

Hi I wondered if anyone can help. I've really identified with the symptoms of ADHD for years, they explain such a lot. During therapy, my therapist asked me if I'd ever been assessed for ADHD out of the blue. She's not qualified to assess or refer me abd I've since finished therapy and been discharged. I'm struggling so so much right now and it's affecting my relationships and work. Motherhood seems to exacerbate the symptoms. I'm tempted to go private but I understand some GPs don't accept the private diagnoses and this would make getting any recommended meds/treatment impossible. Has anyone else managed to get a diagnosis and treatment? I'd really appreciate any help.

Have a look into Right To Choose. There's still a wait but not as long as standard. You basically ask your GP for an assessment and say them to send your referral to X (there are multiple to choose from) Yes you can go private but if you do that, you will most likely end up paying privately for your prescriptions should you decide to go private. I got assessed at 31 through RTC.

@Becky so do I Google right to choose, then contact my gp and tell them which one I choose? I did look but it looked confusing 😄

There are also loads of good Facebook groups with recommendations and tips for Right to Choose. And there's a neurodiverse York one too for support in the day to day.
