My son used to lick his fingers on both hands. Tried squishies to keep his hands busy but didn't work very well (a little but only when he remembered). So I'd gently say, hands out mouth please. Not all the time, only when it became excessive. So I'd ignore it if it was the odd lick every 30 mins (didnt want to draw attention to it), but would gently say something if it was one after the other continuously. It went on for a few months, stopped for a month, had a few licks last week and has stopped again. To be honest, his reception teachers are a lot better with him than his nursery teachers were (although they were nice enough), maybe it's the difference in training? They have enough training days every year, so it's paying off 😜 haha
My daughter licks her hands she's 4 now. Not sure why but I just stop her whenever I catch her in the act lol
Sounds like sensory seeking. My autistic kids do it and lick everything off their hands too, sand/paint/food etc not saying she's autistic but sounds like sensory seeking either way
