Where to go and what to do

Live with the in laws and was told to leave, so we’ve got our bags packed with important stuff but no where to go? Can’t rent too expensive and god knows if the council will sort anything (we’ve contact Saturday nothing they can do until Monday) or if they put us in a shelter miles away from school and work! Any advice? It’s me, my husband, 1 child and 1 baby

The only thing you can do is go down the homeless route and the council put you in temporary accomodation which may be a homeless shelter. That's what it was for us. So sorry you're in the situation, I know exactly what it is like. You won't be on the streets because you have 2 babies, but in order for the council to take you seriously, you have to take whatever they offer you and if that means you're not near work and school then it is what it is I'm afraid. Are you claiming Universal Credit? The council will push you to private rent over anything else and will offer to pay your first months rent in advance for you... And if you're desperate, then you can't really turn that down (otherwise they'll end their duty of care as you'll be intentionally making yourself homeless) ... Universal Credit should cover the majority of your rent (depending on income) and you can stay local if you go private as there are plenty of properties around for rent. Good luck xx
