L&D hospital

Hi everyone. I’m due to have my baby early August at L&D. What was your experience like? Also, is there an option for you to have your own room or is that just for special cases? Are there showers available for after labour? Thank you 💕

Firstly huge congratulations 🥰 My experience was great at L&D. They were amazing! No option to have your own room I’m afraid (I asked) but there are showers on the ward. They are not the nicest though so definitely bring flip flops. I’m always happy to answer any questions xx

I had my son there 6 weeks early on Boxing Day 2023 and I cannot fault them. Everyone was so caring and supportive. My labour was very quick but when I was taken into the delivery suite I did have my own room and I wasn’t rushed out after. I had a bathroom in there with a bath and over head shower, I was offered food and drinks on my more than one occasion and was checked on regularly. Once moved into a ward my midwife was hoping to get me my own room due to the circumstance and my baby being in NICU but unfortunately they were all taken. I hope your pregnancy has been enjoyable so far and your experience at L&D is as positive as mine was x

Thank you both so much. It’s so nice to hear positive experiences when all you seem to see are negative ones. I had my son there’s almost 10 years. It wasn’t the best experience but in all fairness, it wasnt the best labour and delivery and I can’t seem to remember much of my time there as I was drugged up for most of it 😅

Congratulations 🥂, good you had 2 positive comments so far, I put up a post for this months ago and got lots of No No, because I had personally was experiencing terrible care from them from L&D and they never had to patient relationship with you especially for a first time moms . Went to triage and it wasn’t smelling good either so I changed care to Barnet Hospital, I must say the difference is sooo clear, the treatment and attention to details is amazing, the staff’s are nice and not pouring their aggression on you like I received in L&D. The consultant/midwife take their time with the appointments, reassuring and the hospital/triage is clean. I have messages here from other mom who gave birth in L&D late last year and it was horrible experience. The Luton health visitor also visited me and asked why I changed care and I told her and she said that week she has had 4 people say the same thing to her. I’m not discouraging you but just thought I should say my truth. I’m due in April. Xx
