I’m kind of in the same boat but my son eats 1 solid a day and he keeps not wanting to finish his bottles. I made a bottle for him and he drank and ounce and a half before he wanted to just crawl around. I don’t know what to do
My son usually also has difficult finishing his bottles even with 2 solids. What I do is I pick him up, hold him in my hands and feed him, by walking around and standing next to a painting or something 'busy' ( maybe even a bookshelf. He gets distracted and finishes it somehow. Also- this does not work always. His daycare lady also asked me to reduce the amount in one meal so that he drinks more ( though I just keep 3-4 tbsp for him in one meal)
Thanks @Amani Morales . I will just stick to the 2 solids then.
We do tons of solids and my son is weaning a little on the milk. I am unconcerned since he is not dehydrated. My almost 8 month old gets 3 full solid meals a day and I nurse him while I'm home and one 7 oz bottle while I'm at work for 9 hours. He is growing great and hitting all his milestones, doctor is not concerned that he is getting less milk.
@Amani Morales very true! Milk comes first for nutritious until 1 when it's better to switch to whole milk
I didn’t know they were only supposed to have 24 ounces of formula. My LO def drinks more than that, he’s soooo slow to solids as we’re still on purées for now
@Ade there is nothing like they are only supposed to take 24 oz, and 8 month old takes anywhere between 24 to 32 oz is what I have read. My son takes 24-27 some days. He is on the 50th percentile, so I'm not worried he is just taking the 24. However I was worried to switch to 3 solids as he might take less milk then.
Continue with 2. Remember they get all the nutrition from their milk, solids are just being introduced for texture, taste and fun for now. :)
