Bedtime routine HELP

What is your routines for your 3 years olds? Ours has been the same for over a year and always worked but the past few weeks had just become unbearable. He rakes almost 3 hours to go to sleep now, screams and cries to go downstairs, runs around his room laughing his head off and hitting. I’m honestly at the end of my patience with this and I don’t know what to do. I feel like it just impacts my mood all day cause I get no time to myself by the time he’s asleep I eat and go to bed then dread it all the next day too.

We've started going up earlier to read my books and spend more time in his room before sleepy time. The chill and cuddles for longer seems to help

He also currently has 27 soft toys in his bed that we have to say night to 😂

Is he still napping during the day? Could it be that he’s just not tired enough? X

@Gemma no he dropped his nap like 8 months ago. He’s started nursery 2 days a week so I thought he was just overtired but it’s every day now regardless of what he’s done 😭

@Mel s I have been debating starting his full tea/bath/stories routine half an hour earlier so I might try that for more chill time x

@Mel s can’t have too many !! 😂

After my daughter started nursery her bedtime routine was very disrupted for a bit, similar to what you describe. It very thankfully settled back down again within a few weeks 😅 Big changes are a lot for them to process, and it can show up in different ways - extra time to settle down before going to bed can definitely help!

Ah I wonder if he’s started nursery whether he’s procrastinating bedtime to get some extra connection time in!
