Has she had the flu? We’ve all had the flu in our house and it’s been 5 weeks for my two kids and they’ve still got a slight cough. It’s been 4 weeks for me and I’ve still got the cough too! It’s horrible! I did find a natural cough syrup which seemed to help especially in the night - proper orange, salt, sugar and honey and microwave for 2 mins and then squeeze the juice out and have that.
@Olivia the doctor told me that she can’t guarantee antibiotics will clear it and it hasn’t cleared 🤦🏼♀️
@Emily she’s had a runny nose then a cough appeared took her to the doctors and the doctor said it hasn’t gone on her chest and her ears & throat obs were fine and told me that she didn’t need antibiotics but if she was no better in a week or 2 to bring her back which I did, the doctor did all the obs again and came back fine she said you’ve got 2 options see how she gets or antibiotics but she couldn’t guarantee antibiotics would clear it up 🤦🏼♀️ I literally don’t know what else to do x
I’d personally not worry! There’s so much going round, if there’s no secondary infection then antibiotics won’t do anything x
@Emily if she’s no better in the morning I’m gonna take her to hospital x
If the antibiotics didn’t do anything then it’s because it’s viral and there’s nothing much you can do other than give calpol to relieve any pain- sometimes a sore throat can be painful. Or I think you can get a Vapor plug in that might help with congestion. But there’s nothing the hospital will be able to do for a virus- you just have to rely on their immune system

Very similar here! He had tonsillitis just before Xmas and had antibiotics for this. The reason we took him to the drs though was because he’d had a cough for 3 weeks. Then about 2/3 weeks ago he got a cough again and this followed with temp. Took him to doctors as he got worse and they gave antibiotics again but couldn’t really say if there was an infection. After 5 days of finishing the antibiotics his cough is back! It’s honestly relentless. At what point does it become not normal x
@Vicky I’ve got a 5yr old too, and honestly this is the worst winter we’ve had in terms of illnesses! It’s been relentless 😭 there’s soooo many horrible illnesses going round x
@Vicky Yeah exactly! I hate not being able to do anything for them. My daughter is complaining of her ears hurting 🤦🏼♀️ it’s never ending x
My daughter had a cough for 4 months! She was on antibiotics twice during that time, other times the GP said it was just viral. I tried everything, mainly herbal and natural because these cough syrups are just a scam I think! Never ever work. The best thing that eased her congestion was an electric diffuser, which I filled with water and olbas oil. Two hours each night and it worked wonders 😭😭 no more congestion after a few days of doing this. Hope your little one feels better soon x

Ask for another course of antibiotics…. Maybe see if you can get co amoxiclav it works wonders for my daughters chest or ask for a longer course to make sure it’s definitely all gone ❤️ hope she’s feeling better soon x
