Tonsillitis and cough

Oh my god, can someone give me some miracle tips and answers on how to deal with my little one having tonsillitis and a dreadful cough that's making her throw up at times, that's how bad it gets, especially at night. Two days ago she was prescribed Penicillin for tonsillitis and it's X4 a day on empty stomach, basically near impossible task!! Secondly, she manages to spit some of the prescribed dose out by dribbling it down even if I do cautiously put it in the inner cheek bit by bit, therefore she never takes the full amount. Then, last night I woke her up at 10pm to give her the *6* hourly dose, BIG MISTAKE, BIG, after crying fits because she hates the damn thing, spitting back out and gagging, midnight, she was still awake unable to settle back to sleep, eventually she did, to then be woken up by a coughing episode multiplied by 10, over 2 hours of constant coughing and stirring. I do have a cool mist humidifier, Calpol, Nurofen, open windows for fresh air before bed, peritize for children, prescribed by GP and Salbutamol inhaler when required, from A&E, not because she's asthmatic but to help her breathe better, NONE of which helps for the duration of the night, it's horrendous, is been like Forever and cannot recall last night I actually slept, any advice and tips are hugely appreciated!!🥺😮‍💨😵‍💫🙏🏼

We had the exact same issue with our daughter, if it’s the same red penicillin she had then the taste alone is awful let alone trying to give it 4 times a day on an empty stomach (like you say almost impossible to work around food and spread out times throughout the day) waking in the middle of the night to give it was a nightmare when they just need sleep when they are unwell😫 Our daughter was gagging everytime we tried to give it to her (it doesn’t help not being able to hide it or give it in food) in the end we got another appointment and they changed the antibiotic to a different one for her.

@Corinne it's so difficult and I don't know what the solution is..

My lb is currently on antibiotics for his tonsillitis too and he spits some out too. I’ve found that he sleeps better being propped up a little (pop a pillow under the mattress) and as for giving the antibiotics, have you tried giving it a little at a time? Good luck

@Alwen my one has been using a pillow since 18 months and the bed is raised where head side is, helps to a degree and yeah, antibiotics I give bit by bit, little drop at the time in inner cheek. Somehow manages to spit it out , clever little bean 😮‍💨
