Heavily pregnant with a toddler and due to be homeless

I live with my mum who’s kicking me out with 4 weeks notice. I haven’t spoken to the council yet but I plan to as I just can’t afford rent. Me and the father of my kids are still together but live separately and due to his disability he struggles to find jobs so doesn’t get paid enough to rent out a flat for us and the kids but he does earn a bit. Would I be able to ask the council for help finding a rental place with him so he can contribute financially or would they only help me and my toddler find a place. He is living in a different borough and not of a fixed address as he lives with friends and family mostly.

I’m so sorry this sounds so stressful. Why is your mum kicking you out? X

I would get onto the council asap

Get in writing that you’re being kicked out and then they will deem you as homeless you will then be put in temporary accommodation this is then the best way to get housing from the council however you could be in temporary accommodation for a long time as waiting lists are super long

@Amelia she doesn’t have the space for all of us anymore 😞 I’ve tried to plead with my mum but she’s decided we can’t live with her

@Cerys thank you I’ll be doing that! At this point I really hope we can find a place to stay

Thos was me in 2023, I was evicted and my local council put me in a travelodge 😫😫 i was there 6months! If I wasn't productive and flat hunting daily I'd probably still be there! Have a look on openrent, your council do have a duty to house you, you may have to slum it out unless you can find a place , they should also cover first month's rent and deposit x

Bless you I hope you sort it out 🩷

Definitely go to the council as a matter of urgency don’t let them push you into private.

They’d get you private rented most likely. Thats what they done with me
