Today was annoying. Insurance BS rant.

So I recently moved to a new state, finally got insurance settled & booked a very overdue checkup for my 21m old son. I picked a provider from my insurance pcp list that was also highly recommended by a friend. His insurance card listed the Dr I picked as his PCP. I called the office, gave my insurance information & booked the appt. Got me & my son ready & out the door an hour early so we could stop at UPS & still be early enough to fill out the paperwork. I get there & there’s only street parking (DT Chicago, this is awful cuz it’s packed and also 16° out. ) find parking, get him in the stroller, pay the $10 for 2 hours of parking. I get up there & she says they don’t accept my insurance. Even though I called this specific office & gave my insurance information to book. I asked does the dr work at another location? Since she’s listed as the PCP on his card through this specific insurance? No she doesn’t. “Idk why this, idk why that, idk idk idk” so I had to leave, back into the cold. Wasted my time, my $10 & my gas. So irritating.

I also skipped my workout to go to this appointment, which means now I have to workout late at night now that my son is asleep. Booooo today!

Yea this is unacceptable they should have told you in advance they don't take your insurance especially since you called and verified first. You did everything right. I'm sorry this messed up your routine.

All of the above

My husbands disabled and have had this happen so many times its not funny. I’ve called and got him appointments, gave full information, told multiple times he’s covered, to show up and be told no we need to pay out of pocket.

@courtney This is more than inconvenient. Have you ever been explained why that happens?

@Gwen thank you! It was all so frustrating. Especially in this cold.

@courtney that’s terrible I’m sorry. It’s so frustrating.

Have had this happen several times. It's ridiculous
