Baby food.

Does anybody on here give their baby food pouches only? I am not keen on blw but worry that I should be giving foods rather than pouches.

I give mostly pouches due to having another toddler , but when we eat our own food I offer some by my hand and he takes it

I do mostly pouches too. Occasionally I'll make up fresh sweet potato mash and veggies, beans and toast or just cereals. But other than that mine is mostly fed on pouch purées. I plan to start introducing more things because he'll happily try whatever I'm eating. But full BLW freaks me out😅 I'm just now starting to get a bit more confidence in it as he's showing he will chew a bit more. It's ok to do whatever you're comfortable with and whatever works for you

I do homemade in the house (I batch cook and freeze purées, pancakes, tots etc to save time), and do pouches for out and about. I offer a purée / smooth food for every meal, with finger food options as extras e.g. toast with porridge, or pancakes with yoghurt, veggie tator tots with purée. I also let her feed herself with the spoon to practice those skills.

Why would you use solely pouches when making your own food is so much cheaper and honestly, not that much effort. Get some decent weaning books and then fill your cupboards with the basics

Oh, and we mostly do BLW. This morning it was spinach and cheese eggy bread (she's 9 months)

Just make it yourself x

Making your own may seem daunting but is honestly so much easier and it can be fun trying different combinations. I would say it’s worth a try for you

We do a mixture of both x

I'm really not keen on giving mine pouches, I know it's safe for baby but there must be preservatives and things in there I'd rather not give him. I've batch frozen lots of purees and mashed food to give him. I feel it's much healthier xx

I make my own purées and offer finger foods but it’s taken my daughter a little while to get the hang of them so we have taken that she slowly. Instead we have focused on moving through the textures (purées to mashed etc). We follow her lead. But honestly batch making your own purées is super simple and you can fill your freezer really quickly. But if you want to use pouches then do what’s best for you and your family. Don’t be afraid of offering some finger foods. It’s an important part of their development. They will gag but again, it’s okay. There are some really good books and online resources to help you few more confident
