Honestly thank you so much for your advice. I see what you mean. My wee one is 2 2 weeks today. I'm still on hold currently. Normally would give Ibrophen in this case but cause can't give that is stressing me out! It's 1.45 till the 24 hours is up now. Will let you know what they advice but I might end up just giving the 5th dose as scared her temperature goes over 40 . Thanks again x
Oh should have said it has been more than 4 hours since the last dose xx
I’d go by her weight, rather than age. That is what hospitals do when working out dosages and if they can have more of any medication. My son isn’t far off 2 but he is only 9kg so his dosage is always significantly lower than the national average for his age because he’s more like a 9-12 month old going by weight. No judgement, just wanted to add it in case it’s a factor you haven’t thought of as it’s not always just a case of age and timings. My son was just a case of giving water constantly and milk as hospital said it’s just because of the pox and nothing more they can do. I used oat baths (aveeno do sachets for bath) as they help draw the spots out, Poxclin mousse on his spots 3 times a day, as well as putting baby powder & calamine lotion on after the Poxclin had absorbed/dried into the skin to dry them out asap and it worked really well! He had scabbed up in 6 days x
Thank you for the advice on weight over age. Wasn't really something I had ever considered tbh so thank you for the advice. Nhs24 sent us to a&e so got her checked out. By the time we got to a&e it was time for her to be able to get more calpol so she got it there. They checked her out etc and yeah like you said there isn't anything that they can do really just hopefully her wee body fights it off in next few days and that her temperature starts to improve. Thanks for all the advice ladies much appreciated xx
Glad you got checked out and she’s hopefully somewhat comfortable! I had no idea either until a paediatric doctor my son saw for his allergy reactions explained it to me as I said he seems to get excessively drowsy on his allerief and he weighed him and said he needed a lower dose and then went into why as I argued that his age was right for 5ml. 🙈 xx
Not sure if you should follow this advice but I gave 5 doses in 24 hours (with at least 4 hours in between) because from 2 years the dosage is bigger and I worked out that the 5 doses would still be less than the full 2 year old dosage. But she is 2 next week, was born at 40+5 and wears 2-3 clothes. Medically she may as well be 2. Your little one might be younger and smaller. I hope they get well soon!!
