How are the settling sessions like? We are starting mid April and not sure what to expect. x
I took a sleeping bag (as she’s used to napping in that at home) spare clothes, bottles, water bottle and a few dummies for nap time. I cried a lot when she first went but now it’s the best thing I did for her and myself. It’s a really hard emotional change but it’s helped us tenfold! She’s a completely different little girl xx
We started January, and she absolutely loves it! We knew the nursery routine so we did that at home as much as possible (they sleep in their pushchairs) we was told not to wait around on first day just drop of and then can call to see they’re getting on. It’s completely normal for you and baby to be overwhelmed scared and for them to cry , they’re strangers! But they soon get comfortable and have little friends and enjoy their day it can take few days to couple weeks but you’ll both get there. Xx - also it’s normal for them to take few days to eat/ go off their milk there that’s what our lo did at first but she soon settled and they copy the other children.
Our nursery was great with keeping to our routine so good communication with them is always great. I don’t think there’s anything you can do to prepare other than have a lovely happy smile when you drop them off so they know it’s a good thing. It’s such a good thing them going to nursery, I’ve seen so much development in the 2 months my boy has been there for! X

We don't start until late March, but I bought exactly the same comforter and a sleeping bag just for nursery. Also same water bottle. Apart from that, I plan to approach the day like any other day. I watched/read about the first days in a new environment, and the outcome is to not overreact. So, no excess cuddles or saying "mummy loves you, I'll be back soon..." etc. As long as a parent stays calm and acts normal, the baby will be fine.
