Weaning

Hi mums, my baby will be 6 months next week and I’m just thinking about weaning and how to start.. how many meals do you start with per day? Is it just one meal a day of puréed veggies/ fruit and try a few spoons of it? How many bottles of milk should I be giving then.. she usually takes ~5 x 240ml bottles. is it the same as normal and when do you reduce the milk intake or do you? (Completely clueless as to how to start with the weaning journey😅)

I've heard the saying "food under 1 is just for fun". Breastmilk or formula still needs to be the main source of nutrition until they turn 1. I've also heard that it's best to offer food after they've had a bottle, to make sure they've gotten their primary nutrition. Mine is turning 6 months next week too so I've joined Facebook groups and been researching as well.

I downloaded the solid starts app. You can search foods and how best to give it to them at certain ages. I would start off with giving them food in the morning so then you can see if they have any reactions. And also stick to the same food for a few days before you introduce more. Again just to make sure theres no reactions to anything. With my daughter i give her food first then a bottle after as i found doing it the other way she wouldn’t eat any food because she was full. Keep with the same amount of bottles and then once shes eating more food and three meals a day you can reassess. Every baby is different and will take to food in their own way. Its a fun journey 😊
