BLW – when should my baby actually eat food?

My baby is 7 months old, we started a combination of BLW and offering the same food as puree at the same time about 2 weeks ago. Since then, baby has only put two items in her mouth and barely swallowed anything. Every other time, she's just putting her hand in the puree for a couple of seconds, watches us eat, pulls a face and wants to lie back down. I know it's very common for them to not eat anything in the beginning, but I thought we'd be getting somewhere after 2 weeks. Should I worry or is this still normal and when can I expect her to actually eat something? Even just a spoonful would be a win

Every baby is different. Keep trying - it can take a good month for baby to ‘get it’

Honestly it took a while for mine to get it, he would put foods in his mouth and mush it around but he wasn’t very good at swallowing, he’d gag, choke and be sick a LOT. We gave him stuff mostly just for practice. Just know that everything you’re giving her helps her learn how to process the food in her mouth, push it around with her tongue, swallow properly etc It took about 3 months for my boy to actually get somewhat comfortable with food

@Sarah thank you! That makes so much sense and makes me feel better!

If your kiddo isn’t interested in food yet that’s okay, just let them feel and explore food without expectations. My second was snatching food off my plate at 5 months, they’ll get there in their own time!
