Omg I forgot about the water bottle too @Emily ! It feels never ending but fingers crossed it is a short phase, though it’s been going on since he was 6 months and he’s 1 on Saturday 😅😭
My little girl is super messy when she's eating too and same as you mainly blw but sometimes spoon fed as well depending what it is. But I mainly just let her go for it and hoping that it will pay off in the long run 🤣 she's nearly 13 months now and it's gradually not as messy and only just starting to use a spoon or fork if we pre load it but she will do that a couple of times and then just throw it and digs back in with her hands haha x
@Nicola does she ever just pick it up and just throw it on the floor? I really want to see an improvement but every meal is shockingly messy. I’ve started to strip him because his clothes were getting ruined. I guess this is just a process, was hoping it wasn’t going. To be so bad at a year though 😅😅
Aw I would try not to worry I know it's hard especially if your like me and abit of a clean freak!! Lol.. just remember he's learning and food is and should be FUN ! we put a big splat mat down underneath, strip her to her vest and just let her get messy! It will change soon enough in the meantime time just try and enjoy it and take photos for his 18th birthday ❤️😂😂
From memory with my first, he was very similar and had phases where he would play with food, or find it funny to throw his water bottle on the floor, or take a sip and spit the water out. However every phase was short-lived (although it didn't feel like that at the time). It's good that you don't give it a reaction, and I reckon in a week or two you'll suddenly realise it's got easier without noticing! Also, sidenote - people (including me!) generally post the positive parts of what their child is doing. If they hold a spoon for 2 seconds and then throw it on the floor, you can get they'll post the photo of the baby holding the spoon.
