Flight anxiety - flying while pregnant

There’s a trip I might make during my second trimester. I have pretty bad flight anxiety. I know flying while pregnant in the second trimester is generally safe, but I’m worried the stress and anxiety I experience during the flight (2 hours) will affect my baby. Anyone have any experience of this they can share?

Not with flying specifically, but I was so incredibly stressed and anxious during my first pregnancy (homeless, abusive relationship, in recovery for addiction) and he was born full term and healthy overall. I know the stress hormone can be felt by the baby but I think people over state the effect stress has. Lots of women are under extreme stress during their pregnancies and still have healthy babies. They’re actually tougher than we realize I think. Life finds a way.

Is the flight a necessity or can it wait? If not the best thing is to look into ways you can calm your anxiety for the trip. How can you prepare? A 2 hour journey in the grand scheme of things is not too long of a flight. You can make sure you wear compressions socks, keep hydrated and mobilise.

https://avivaromm.com/stress-in-pregnancy/ Please read this article! It is the most updated, scientific evidence I have found regarding stress in pregnancy. It worried me too at first, but after reading this article, my mind is so much more at rest. More pregnant ladies should read this!

@Mariah I totally believe in what you said! I very much think that it is overestimated how much stress really affects us, and it only creates extra stress, creating a vicious circle. I just shared a link above, what is written in it might totally reflect your experience I can imagine!

@Kalina thank you so much this is so helpful!
