We transferred over to labour ward with the aim of having an epidural, at this point they noticed baby had done a poo and her heart rate was starting to drop so I needed to deliver her as soon as possible. I was given a few options but ultimately I just wanted to be out of pain so I opted for instrumental delivery and episiotomy in theatre with section back up plan if that failed. I had forceps delivery and whilst it was scary it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I'm recovering well.
I was 38+2 when she arrived!
Well done it sounds like you did amazingly to get that far by yourself! Congratulations 🩷
That’s positive to hear about an instrumental birth as I was worried about that too! Thank you for sharing
@Jo it was definitely something I was really worried about and really wanted to avoid, it's crazy how your mindset changes in the moment depending on how things are going! I hope you have a smooth delivery when baby decides it's time! 😊
I've had my inpatient March baby! Contractions started spontaneously around midnight on 24th Feb and she was finally born at 02:01 on 25th! Unfortunately I was only able to get about 2-3 hours sleep in that 26 hour period so I was absolutely exhausted. I went into hospital around 7pm on 25th after reaching my limit of being able to cope at home, I still wasn't contracting as frequently and for as long as they say but on arrival I was 4cm dilated! I went straight to the midwifery unit as that was my preference, the room with the pool was being cleaned so I went in the shower to try and ease the discomfort until I could get in the pool. The pool was amazing and I stayed in there until I was 10cm but was in absolute agony and begging for more pain relief, I was also not really progressing at this point either so midwife suggested getting out and mobilising around the room to try and get contractions going again. Unfortunately nothing really helped and I was too tired and in too much pain to help myself further
