Baby will not accept spoonfeeding

My baby is nearly 7 months old and we have been weaning for around a month. I'm doing a mix of spoonfeeding and fingers foods. She's great with finger foods grabs them and puts straight in mouth. She is however really reluctant to be spoonfed. She grabs the spoon before it gets anywhere near her mouth and wants to do it herself, obviously rather unsuccessfully. I've tried having 2 spoons so she has one, I've also tried different spoons. We have managed some yogurt and porridge because I put banana in it which I she likes but it's hard work!! Wondered dif anyone had any tips? If she's holding the spoon she will put it in her mouth but hit and miss if she uses it correctly! I'm happy to offer more finger foods but feels she's missing out on a lot of stuff if she won't be spoonfed.

We're in exactly the same boat! I have no advice. I'm just going down the finger food route and trying a puree every few days just in case. My health visitor was pleased she was accepting finger food only. It's OK but it's harder work cooking proper food for her all the time

Have you tried one of the things that look like a dummy with holes in so she can hold it and suck the puree out? I think they advertise it for teething and stuff, I'm putting lumpy food in and fruit at the moment and my little boy loves it as he feeds himself. Just a thought. Hope it gets easier for you x

Both my children have been like this - very independent! I've found that by loading it for them & just letting them have a go they soon get the hang of it. My first was confidently and fairly efficiently spoon feeding himself by 9 months. My currently 6 month old drops a lot but definitely gets a fair bit in too! I've found the below chunky spoons are easiest for them to use at this age. And a suction bottom bowl!! https://amzn.eu/d/4M0Zrhp
