My baby isn’t ready for that. He has choked - proper choking on pancakes etc so unfortunately that isn’t working for us. He didn’t like BLW either. We are using purées with lumps so he’s learning to chew with that atm
I started by giving a ‘large snack’ - Greek yoghurt topped with pureed butternut squash & almond butter - as lunch. That way I could gauge if she was ready/hungry. Once she was eating the whole thing we introduced a more substantial lunch.
Ideally don’t drop feeds until 10m and eating well (advice from an IBCLC). Of course it baby doesn’t want the feed, that’s fine, but you continue to offer As before
Mine is slowly developing textures too. She’s getting better but is still getting confident with chewing. We give her essentially a hot meal for lunch, she has curry, casseroles, fish pies. All in a mashed consistency with some lumps to help with the chewing. We found she didn’t need her morning bottle, she her one on waking but not her later one as she had eaten breakfast. I offer a bottle when she wakes from her morning nap and then lunch an hour or so later. She often then doesn’t have a bottle until late afternoon but if she hasn’t eaten much solids then she will have more bottles. Follow his lead, he’ll let you know when he’s hungry or had enough 😊
My baby is 9 months and is naturally dropping milk feeds at this point. She now has 3-4 7floz bottles in 24hrs
You don't need to give purees at this age. My baby is 9 months and today she had homemade cheese & chive pancakes for lunch, with some chopped up pear and peach! For dinner she's having a spinach, ricotta and cheddar puff pastry wrap!
