Eating at nursery

My baby started nursery last week. He has been very upset, what I think it’s normal but what worries me more is that he’s not eating there. At home he eats very well, 3 whole meals plus loads of snacks. I don’t know what to do. Does it get any better? Any successful story or any advice? Thanks ❤️

I used to work in a nursery and this is very normal for babies when they start. It’s a completely new environment for them, new faces, new smells and away from their parents/home comforts. Sometimes it does take children a couple of weeks to realise and accept the new change/routine. Does your nursery accept home foods? It maybe worth asking if you’re able to bring it a couple of his favourite meals for him to have with them. I know it’s hard but babies do settle and get used to it, it can just take time for some 🩷

This is so normal. My youngest was on total hunger strike for the first few days. The more he went, the more familiar it became and the more settled he felt. Then he started to eat. At first just a few mouthfuls, now eats like he does at home. It’s hard, and it makes you feel so awful and guilty, but they will settle and it will get better!

My little guy started yesterday and hasn’t eaten, when I got him home yesterday he literally inhaled a wheatabix and then I had to give him a night feed last night 🙈😭. I remember my first being the same, it took a few weeks for her to settle there and start eating x

Mine barely ate anything for the first few weeks at nursery but now eats most of what she's given. Remember that they may be given foods they aren't used to, prepared in ways/with textures they aren't used to, so it takes time to get used to the fact that they need to adapt

Thank you guys, it makes me feel less guilty to know I’m not alone and that it will get better ❤️❤️❤️
