Nervous about giving Honey

I know in so many cultures giving babies/kids honey isnt a worry but i feel like we've been scaremongered into not giving them to our kids until 12m+ because of the harm the bacteria can cause that im still afraid to try it.. am i the only one?

I waited the 12 months, kinda forgot about it a while longer and one day made her porridge and thought hmm needs something , a bit of honey.. ‘oh yeah she can have honey!’ 😂

Same here I havent given it yet either

I was scared too but i have given bits here and there, especially when my daughter has a cough. Adding to porridge is a good idea x

I give my daughter honey and she loves it. We have it on top of porridge/greek yogurt, I don’t give it often as it is sweet

Coming from a chef and a mum... botulism is deadly at ANY age not just babies under 1. Its advised to wait due to the development of babies immune system and their ability to fight germs. Botulism isnt common at all and almost all honey is tested for the bacteria before it goes to sale( not to say that this cant happen on a shelf as it 100% can as it cant be killed by heat which is why its so unsafe). Look for a high quality honey, give a small amount even a dot on your finger and go from there x
