Food

my one year old is exclusively breastfed. he finds SOME interest in food but is very rare when I can get him to eat multiple meals or even multiple bites of actual food. he still prefers breastmilk soooo much. he just turned one feb. 18th. he has two bottom teeth and his top teeth are just now coming in. is anyone else’s 1year jut not interested in eating anything but breastmilk (he’s right on track for weight and everything)

May not work for you, but mine showed the most interest in new things if he got to have bites off my plate. Everything we made was safe for him to have (egg allergy, no salt, soft etc) and now I have the only baby I know that eats tofu and curried white beans 🤷🏻‍♀️ I did find that he still won't eat things like steamed veggies plain though. Sometimes it's a matter of just giving them what they'll reliably eat every time, or having a backup if the meal is refused. I know every 90s mom is in the back saying "eat what's put in front you" but babies have palates and preferences too, they just need help navigating them. Early early on, I mixed my breast milk in whatever was on offer such as oatmeal or in soups so he had the familiarity. Hang in there mama ❤️

My baby is also exclusively breastfed and also barely eats any food. Some days she wants food more some days not at all. But she nurses several times a day and at night and is also right on track with her weight. I'm not worried, she will eat more when she wants to. I just keep offering 3 times a day.

My little boy was the same. He didn’t get any teeth until after a year. Still hates purées (he’s 18 months). He did get a lot better at eating about 4 months ago because I’m pregnant and my milk supply dropped. See a dietician they are much more helpful than our pediatrician. And keep offering three meals a day.
