So scared of weaning!!!!

I just gave my LO his first "finger food" of banana and he took a massive bite out of it and I was soooo scared!! He gagged and sicked up a bit of milk but was fine but it's so scary!

It’s awful to begin with, we’ve done blw alongside purées from the start and i found it stress but they do learn to spit out/gag when they need to, don’t be afraid of the gagging it’s a positive thing they can push food out of the their throat. but yesterday he inhaled a slice of kiwi and I swear he swallowed it whole as I held my breath watching him

My LO has been doing BLW since Christmas, he still gagged on banana and almost choked after having it loads. Sometimes it's just scary but its also very rewarding! Keep at it you are doing great x

Try not to be afraid of the gagging, it's very normal and a good sign! We've been doing BLW (with some meals spoon fed) since 6 months and she's 9 months now. She occasionally still gags, but she's so good at bringing it up now that I don't panic TOO much anymore 😅. We barely did purees, as its better for them to learn to chew!
