I NEED TIPSSSSšŸ„¹šŸ„¹

Hi guys, my baby is 8 months old and is not really liking solids yet? Like, even if I feed her regular baby food, she starts whining. Iā€™ve tried putting the food in front of her and letting her experiment with it herself, but she just tries eating the bowl or her spoon. šŸ˜« ā€¦ Sheā€™s not crawling yet, as well. Sheā€™s just now learning how to use her knees a little to start pushing off and is great at using her arms to push herself up, but she canā€™t quite get into 4 point position. ANY HELP WILL SUFFICE šŸ©·

Have you tried the panda ear spoons? They have holes in that the food gets stuck in, so even if she is just chewing the spoon, she is getting a taste. Arenā€™t expensive and can get on Amazon. I load up a couple of spoons and let my baby ā€˜feed herselfā€™. She doesnā€™t really ā€˜eatā€™ either but I reckon at least getting the taste/texture experience?

Babies are born copycats , Iā€™d say it will help so much of you try and sit down with babe and have some food as well. This way you can model chewing and talk about the food. Sometimes picnic style meals are also fun for little ones , and some food messy play. Food before one is mainly for fun so she still has a bit of time to start enjoying some tastes. As for crawling, I used to put some toys in front of my little one and hold my hand at the bottom of his foot, in case heā€™d try pushing himself. It also helped if i was to put him with his tummy over my calf and dangle a toy just a touch out of reach. Hope this helps even a tiny bit xxx

@Hollie ok i will check these out. thank you so much šŸ˜«

My first wasnā€™t really interested until 9 months and even then wasnā€™t really eating until closer to one year, are you able to get those spoons you can squish the food onto? My current baby will only eat if he feeds himself lol nuby has these good two sided spoons I let him eat the purĆ©e off of

Hello, my little girl was the same and it took her 9&1/2 months to show any interest in eating solids šŸ˜„ in the meantime I gave her melty puffs/sticks, things she could explore and play with for as long as she liked I started eating at the same time too which ignited her interest in what I was eating and now I canā€™t get any meal eaten without sharing with her šŸ˜‚. I give a spoon to be played with and I use a spoon to feed her to try and limit the number of times she grabs the food spoon šŸ˜† I hope you find something that helps in here. X

@Diana perf , thank youušŸ„¹

@Amanda yess , iā€™ll look on amazon right now and check those out !!

@Samantha ok great , thank you soo muchšŸ©·

When i started my son when he was an infant i would put the puree (fruit mainly) and mix it with the formula. iā€™d also smash a banana into the formula and and he loved it

I don't have any advice regards the food, but just to reassure you, my son didn't crawl until almost 10 months, and didn't really try until that point. 8 months is still early

Have you tried finger foods instead of purĆ©es? Might be that baby girl doesnā€™t like the texture.. Maybe try out different things like pieces of cucumber, melon, kiwi, banana, etc. Download the Solid Starts app to give you suggestions on what to try and how to safely serve the food so she can use her hands and feed herself.

Check out solid starts! They have a glossary of every food you can think of and how to serve it. I would start with just one type of food thatā€™s simple, I noticed in the beginning that too many options overwhelmed my daughter (sheā€™s 13 months now, about 7 when we started anything). I would also just sit her in her high chair while I cooked and have her like a peeled, cold carrot to gnaw on so she would kinda start to get the idea (plus itā€™s great for teething!). Also, she did not crawl until 11 months! Now sheā€™s almost too fast for mešŸ˜‚we are a little behind with walking but knowing her sheā€™s just going at her own pace! I think the window for crawling is usually 8-12 months so you have some time.

@Keilah this was a sigh of relief , thank you so muchhhhšŸ˜«

@shadeaa of course!! If you need a good cry but also a good reminder watch the Bluey episode ā€œBaby Raceā€. I always think of that episode when Iā€™m stressing about milestones or really anything else related to my childrenšŸ„²youā€™re doing great and babies have their own rate of development!

To add to comments on variability of babies, in case helpful. My sisterā€™s baby (who is 19 now and just started at Cambridge uni - so a smart cookie) didnā€™t crawl at all. At 11 months she crawled across the floor (first time crawling) and pulled herself up on the sofa and walked. She also didnā€™t roll until AFTER she walked. So up until 11 months was basically a little pudding on the floor :)
