Rotunda semi private v private

Has anyone experienced Rotunda private and semi private? What is your experience - is there much of a difference, I know you see your consultant every time when private but not semi. How different are the rooms? Is it the same food?

I went semi private and had my daughter in Feb 2024, for each appointment I saw a midwife and the consultant/doctor but I had no set doctor and wouldn't know who I'd see each time. Let me know if there's any other questions or details you need ☺️

Have you ever gone private? I'm wondering how different are the rooms and food. I know about the different doctors - that doesn't really bother me. Is there a scan each appointment?

Hi I went to private- dr fergal malone. Yes each appointment there was a scan. After the birth at first I stayed in a semi-pr room then I switched to private one. Foods are the same

What is the semi private room like compared to private? Do you have much space?

Yes I had a scan at each appointment but not like your 12 or 20 week scan. It was a very brief scan just to check measurements/fluid etc

I went private in rotunda , only got a private room due to availability on my 3rd night . Once in the room it was lovely . I think the first night they generally don’t prioritise you for a room as you need close monitoring anyway . I had Prof Jennifer donnelly she was incredible saw her every time and had scans every time . Would absolutely do the same thing again. I’ve heard mixed reviews of semi private however have never experienced it myself so can’t really comment. I guess it depends on your specific needs and wants so best to find someone who aligns with that. For example I had preeclampsia in my first pregnancy and then a miscarriage so I wanted someone with a special interest in that.

I've already been private in Rotunda - couldn't fault it at all - but for next I am thinking of going semi private due to the cost. When private I've always had a private room for entire stay
