So mine is also like that but keep going offer textured food, the gagging is just a reflex while she learns how to chew and swallow. If shes gagging and going bright red thats absolutely natural, chocking is silent. What ever you offer, just make sure its soft enough that you can squeeze between 2 fingers.
I just keep offering things. At the moment, the only thing she properly eats is yoghurt, but she has a good suck/chew on most things. She's enjoying pineapple, crumpets, carrots. Everything goes in, and most of it comes back out. Just take it slowly if you're a bit nervous
I’m doing baby led weaning I was so scared at first but he’s actually so good and don’t forget gagging is just about the different textures of the foods and it’s nothing to worry about 😇
I do a mix, if my older kiddies or I are having something suitable for BLW and at a suitable time then she will have that if not purées.
A mix but she’s taken to purées more than finger foods so far (annoyingly) whereas my first was the opposite. By the way teeth have absolutely nothing to do with it/ even if they don’t have any it’s important to at least try some finger foods so they can start learning the mechanics of chewing
We’re doing baby led and at first I was panicking as she gagged and threw up too but now she’s munching on pulled pork and even tried a Pancake Tuesday. I definitely recommend going to the family hub classes they do for baby led weaning as it’s helped us so much understanding the difference in gagging and choking. We only offer her whatever we’re eating so tonight little miss will be trying a meatball ☺️ just take your time with it
