Glucose monitor

Hi all, I was diagnosed yesterday with gestational diabetes & have an appointment with the midwife & dietician next Wednesday but in the meantime should I be buying a glucose monitoring machine? Or will this be given to be at my appointment next week? Just want to carry on & order one if needs be. My hospital is Musgrove, Taunton. Thanks!

My hospital supplied me with one x

I went and picked up my pack the same day as diagnosis. Included the monitor, a load of leaflets & a letter to my GP for a repeat prescription of needles/testing strips. Maybe contact your midwife and/or the diabetes team at your hospital!

I was given mine at my appointment with diabetes midwife

They will give it to you and tell you how to use it and when to measure etc. for me they said not to change anything before the appointment

I had to pick up all of my stuff at the pharmacy but every place is different

I did the dexcom. It worked really well and it connects to your cell phone. It lasts 10 days.
