What to do

What do you do if your child is just refusing food? Won’t eat meals unless it’s nuggets, sausage, hotdog etc. even refusing past that he normally eats. It’s really getting to me and I know that if he doesn’t eat he won’t sleep at night. He just point blank refuses. He’ll eat snacks fine and eats fruit, has gone off of veg as well. Been like this for around a week or two now.

We just ride it out and don’t cave in to giving the same food that she always eats for every meal. I don’t know if there’s a developmental reason for them doing it at this age but me and 2 of my friends 18m olds have done this in the last month! Ours and 1 other are back to normal and definitely eating way more than before the food strike. I’d say like everything it’ll pass but don’t trap yourself with the same handful of foods otherwise your LO will fight you for it every time x

@Jess so what I’ve been doing is putting our meals on his plate but offering a small portion. Of his safe food such as a strawberry or sweetcorn (he use to eat). He got better with eating and then had a cold and is now back to being a bit crap with eating again

I’d defo keep doing what you’re doing, he’ll snap out of it. Ours went on for about a week but a friend was closer to 2. Very stressful but he won’t starve himself x
