So if I went to the doctor and told them I'm dehydrated and exhausted, anaemic and low on iron would they put a drip on to me? I had a drip put on to me to help me rehydrate but that was when I was pregnant.

I was ill for a week and couldn't eat anything and went to hospital where they put a drip on to me overnight amd then I got sent home. But this time I'm not pregnant but very exhausted, dehydrated and anemic. Would the gp do anything for this? If I askee to get a drip put on to me would they do it? Or would they just simply tell me to drink water 🙄 any gp mummas on here? Any help or advice would be nice.

They would need to run tests usually before just giving you IV’s. Bloods to show if you are anaemic etc. GP’s don’t usually give anything IV either, at least not where I am, it would be in hospital.

@Niomi thankyou for the advice and for replying :)

@Maddy if you call 111 you could possibly get an out of hours appt as most gps shutting now and they can signpost you over the weekend to hospital if needed, but usually you would need blood tests etc to confirm iron levels for anaemia as I’m anaemic and it varies month to month. Try to eat iron rich foods over the weekend and increase your water intake, and rest where possible. An IV for dehydration is simply saline water, only reason it helps is because it’s directly into your blood stream so faster, could try electrolyte sachets to help boost your energy too. Feel better soon mama 🥰

@Niomi thankyou so much! Need to get better for myself and my babies! 💪🏻
