Eating with hands

Is anyone else's 2yr old fully able to use a fork at mealtimes but still uses their hands for a lot of things like spaghetti bolognese etc? Is it normal? Thanks 😊

Sometime yes. I don't blame them lol it's easier.

@Ally Much easier haha my son has been using a fork since 9m and fully got the hang of it by about 14m but recently, he's been shovelling food in his mouth with his hands 🤣

My 3.5 year old will sometimes still use her hands with spaghetti , nothing wrong with it totally normal . Spaghetti easily falls off the fork , even as adult but we use the spoon to help .

Nothing wrong in it - healthy sensory input. Children should explored their senses, like touch, but still good to teach utensil use. At home, let them get messy and eat with those hands! It’s also super cute.

My 4yr olds also will randomly use their hands

Thank you, ladies!x

Yes my toddler he’s does it, but he tries to use the spoon or fork but still using hands

My toddler stuffs her face with spaghetti using her hands 😂 I find it quite cute. She uses her fork for other things. I always put cutlery on the plate for her to encourage utensil use
