Schools and holidays

Our plan was to go away for a week in October but it doesn’t fall on the week of half term. Child starts school in September in reception. Am I still ok to do this or am I gonna get s fine for taking her out 😭

They don’t legally have to be in school until they are 5. You can take them out of school while they are 4 and not get a fine. We’re booking Australia next year for the month and I was worried about the same thing but should be all good!

You can’t be given a penalty notice until your child is of compulsory school age, and that’s the term after they turn 5yo. Make the most of it before the rules become more stringent for the rest of their time at school!

The whole of reception (if summer born) we will not get fines as not CSA till start of year 1. We are planning a week in June next year making the most before the fines or the high prices.

He won’t be CSA so you’ll be fine to take him out of school
